Pet Dental Care
Proper pet dental care is just as important for our pets as it is for us. Dental disease is a silent process that may cause significant pain in the mouth and contribute to disease elsewhere in the body. When pets do not receive the dental care they need to keep their teeth clean and their gums healthy, their mouths can harbor harmful bacteria. This bacteria (plaque) accumulates on the teeth, affecting and infecting below the gums. This destroys tissue, causes bone loss and often necessitates extraction of teeth that begin to spread disease, gingivitis, and pain in the mouth and to the rest of the body.
Dental Health for Overall Health
Dental hygiene is important for the quality of life, overall health, and longevity of your pet. A professional Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT) each year for your pet will keep teeth healthy and bad breath at bay. Here at Wagly, we are proud to offer comprehensive dental COHATs for your pet, adhering to the highest medical standards in medicine, anesthesia, and comfort.
Full Anesthetic Dental Cleanings
We perform only full anesthetic dental (no anesthesia-free) cleanings. This allows us to safely clean and polish both above and beneath the gumline where most disease lies, and to take dental radiographs for the best assessment of your pet’s oral health. Our dental also include an IV catheter and fluids, as well as pre-anesthetic blood work and a dedicated veterinary nurse monitoring anesthesia to ensure your pet is as safe as possible while undergoing their cleaning.
We encourage you to give us a call to set up a wellness visit where one of our doctors can take a close look at your pet’s teeth and see if it is time for a dental cleaning. They will also work with you to build a home care routine between these annual dental procedures to keep your furry friend’s mouth comfortable and their smile pristine.
